This Little Light of Mine

A mountain stream, blue sky, and sunshine with rays from the top left corner of the image

This little of light mine…

Did not shine for a long time.

Years and years to be exact.

Mourned mom.

COVID hit.

I hit the ground with angst, anxiety, awake all around.

Menopause. Medandmalesplained. Medicated Mind.

Done. Doomed.

Gone. Gloomed.

Informed my light went dim.

That it was just THE perfect storm.

And I would wade through.

Told I had to.

Get over it.

Snap out of it.

One does not get or snap.

Mind tuned out it all.

Felt insignificant and small.

I shut the shutters.

Drew the drapes.

Crawled into cavernous cave.

Proclaimed “Go away.”

With covers pulled tight.

Prayed for ways to end my plight.

Elizabeth Louise, where is your Thelma in tow?

I asked day after day.

To escape on the road and just go, go, go…
